About The Artwork
I was inspired by a visit to Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, where Georgia Okeefe would paint. I always saw the adobe clay buildings and dwellings juxtaposed with blue sky as a metaphor for heaven and earth. In this piece, the sky is painted in oil, while the adobe is painted in many layers of acrylic, sanded and worked over to create texture.
