Abraham is the common father of the three monotheistic religions. With such an intrinsic and universal link among these religions, I trust that tolerance and acceptance of others can be easier to achieve. I view Abraham as the shepherd that led his people to the land God promised him and his offspring. He is originally from Ur of Chaldea, which is now called Nassiriya. It is a governorate in Iraq situated along the banks of the Euphrates River, about 225 miles southeast of Baghdad. I bought an old Nassiriyan shepherd’s cloak made of sheep wool. Then, I cut the cloak into pieces and pasted some of them on the canvases to shape Abraham’s clothes. I wanted to bring the spirit and soul of this great prophet through the material of his native land. I strongly believe that with positive dialogue and well-intentioned conversation, the iceberg that represents our differences will be melted away to open the gates of a harmonious future together.
