Nine ochre yellow and black squares on a square base lead to an ambiguous perception. When looking at the yellow squares, they form a yellow structure on a black background, while viewing the black elements leads to the perception of a black structure or two intersecting black diagonals on a yellow background. In this way, the inherently solid structure appears lively and changeable. This abstract geometric colorfield painting is painted with highest quality yellow and black pigments in a special watery thin acrylic dispersion. Although the painting has multiple thin layers, the structure of the natural linen remains well visible. The thin layers and the special dispersion create a shimmering, slightly glossy surface that gives the impression of depth, similar to oil painting. As a canvas high quality self primed belgium linen is used. This contemporary modern painting comes on a wooden stretcher frame. The sides are painted and an additional frame is not needed. The artwork is ready to hang.

Largely influenced by Concrete Art, Klaus Hoffmann specializes in the interplay of colors and shapes. His work is characterized by a fusion of geometric forms and the tactile quality of his materials, resulting in vibrant and self-contained pieces. The artist’s technique involves applying pigments in thin layers on raw linen, which enhances the colors’ depth and luminosity while incorporating the texture of the linen. Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory. See also
