ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Each work begins with a brush stroke or line that sets into motion the subsequent moves and evolves through engagement with materiality and mark-making. Shapes, volumes and space emerge through the buildup of marks. Straight-edges, gestures, and color glazes push, pull and coalesce. The element of chance disrupts habitual boundaries and pushes trajectories into unexpected territories. This process continues until the work hovers between perfection and imperfection, chance and control, density and weightlessness.
