About The Artwork

A name originating from two words combined... "Akua" and "Ba". Akua: a name given to a female born on a Wednesday and Ba: simply means child. With both combined it will definitely mean Akua's child but in another sense Akuaba is a common name given to any wooden or carved doll at least in the Akan ethnicity. In the olden days, the Akans Will give a doll to a woman who can't conceive with the notion that if the woman treats this wooden doll as she would a baby she will actually conceive and be fertile.... As time went by people got that believe. And hence they called it "the fertility doll".

My name is Prosper Ofori kessey. Born March 17, 1993 in Ghana. Art has been my passion since childhood. Although I do not have a formal educational background in art, I still found a way to sharpen my art skills by way of videos online and also serving as an apprentice under a professional artist for some years. I'm still experimenting and trying out new ways to gain experience in my endeavors as an up and coming artist.
