born 19.06.1984
Burton-on-Trent.

Edwin has a strong belief that his duty as an artist is to comment and raise questions that are at the forefront of discussion in his time of living. Believing strongly that painting, as one of mans earliest form of expression, remains highly relevant today. With his work in progress depicting strobe-lit scenes of exploding suicide bombers, Edwin demolishes the safety barriers between the viewer and the image, insisting that one becomes involved. The pieces question the apparent spirituality of pronounced contemporary martyrs, and the origin of the light source, that is often presumed to be symbolic of divine hope. -This is an idea that runs throughout all of Edwin's current works, including his paintings of soldiers. The soldier paintings offer haunting depictions of young British men who go to war. As a fellow young man, Edwin raises the questions about the internal motives for ones fight for their country at the dawn of the 21st century.
