About The Artwork

So there’s Michael the Archangel, slayer of the Devil and of the Dragon, the most visionary of the angels, because he was the one who revealed the Apocalypse to Saint John, depicted by Folla wearing with skis, as a “Skier of God”, who by slaying the Devil slides on the surface of history and time; there’s Gabriel, who announces to the Holy Mary the arrival of the Son of God, entering like a seer among a cloud red butterflies, simultaneously a painting symbol of the mysterious monk, and a metaphor of the process of illumination, revelation, whether spiritual or artistic, of which the artist, as Rimbaud’s seer-poet must dionysiacally be a prey so to be able to “read” the reality of the world (and how can one fail to notice that Gabriel, in the painting has, not by chance, the look of the artist himself, while the pregnant Madonna that of his wife, Elena Trailina, an artist herself, both under the elated influence of the red butterflies, both a symbol of the monk’s influence on Alex’s art and artistic and spiritual influence, which allow him to see the world behind Maja’s veil of the phenomenal realm?).

I was born in Oggiono (Italy) on 8th of June 1980, I'm working and living between Filorera (Alps), Milan and Moscow. In my painting there is the fundamental difference between photographic realism and pictorial realism. The first reproduces what the camera has taken, the second (my) reproduces what is necessary. The rest is suggested for our eye by visual trick and realized with our conscience. My painting is domestic and homey one, you can say whatever you want, but not academic, because it does not fit any of the academics criteria. It is not accepted within the contemporary academic institution. (In the West the official academic style in art is informal language). My art has no cultural references, it is not looking for historical consistency, but most of all does not have moralistic pretensions. My painting is the apology of sublime banality of everyday life.
