This work is part of the "Rebirth" series, the artist's first series of paintings, and is a reinterpretation of the work of Leonardo Da Vinci, from the beginning of the 16th century. The victory of the Florentines over the Milanese at the Battle of Anghiari was the theme chosen for the fresco commissioned by Da Vinci around 1503 for the Sala del Gran Consiglio, a noble hall in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, but which was never carried out. summing up to the phase of studies and sketches. Leonardo extensively described the details he wanted to include and the emotions he wanted to convey. He mentions dust, earth and smoke, terror and the agony of death. Even the sketches vividly convey the confusion and fear of battle. Which was the reason why Neto included the work in the series, since it portrays a little of the human feeling and impulses in the face of chaos and uncertainty. In Renaissance, the artist pays tribute to the masters of the Italian Renaissance period by presenting reinterpretations of their works, trying to bring to current times the renewal of consciousness that took place during that period, alluding to another renaissance that the world will have to go through after the current crisis. caused by the pandemic. In Neto's opinion, there is a need for an intense revaluation of the world and models of life and society, in addition to questioning and reviewing the status quo and a profound change in consciousness. An inner search for the most sublime expression of what the human being is capable of performing as co-creator of this world and as a species is necessary. And, with the Renaissance as the subject of his first series of paintings, the artist also makes reference to his own rebirth for art after many years of denying himself that path. Upon rediscovering himself as an artist, Neto felt that his need to express himself visually was of vital importance to him, and as he turned his gaze back to art, he realized that he had long been in a kind of "Dark Ages" self-imposed through his choices, which distanced him from art. It was then that he decided to pursue his own rebirth to a less stifling, fuller, and lighter life.

Since he was very young, Neto showed great aptitude for visual expression in his early years. In the early grades in school, he already demonstrated a differentiated ability to recognize and reproduce shapes and figures. Always very introverted, his favorite toys were always pencils and paper with which he spent hours and could thus translate and express, better than by any other way, his imagination, his inner universe and his ideas. And then, around 13 years old, he decided to learn the techniques to improve his drawing. Later, however, because he did not believe that his art could become his profession, he left this passion aside and ended up becoming a military man, graduated in Systems Analysis and specialized in an MBA. His need to express himself through visual language, however, remained always latent until, after years of incompleteness, he could no longer suppress his creative impulse and went back to drawing and decided to learn to paint. Self-taught, his acrylic technique can be classified as realistic with regard to proportions, but he is quite expressionist in relation to the application of the paint on the support and the colors that are used subjectively, since these are not predefined in a specific palette, but chosen spontaneously during the execution of the work.
