About The Artwork

This is my picture from series „Anthropocene“. The picture shows the landscape of a former refinery in Vojany on the east of Slovakia. As a result of the economic transformation of the former Eastern bloc, this factory was closed. However, various petroleum products are still stored here. Poorly maintained buildings and pollution from the former operation of the factory, which no one has removed, still represent a major environmental burden of this environment. The brown colour is represented by synthetic asphalt, which is also produced by petrol processing. Metallic pigment - aluminum is the original protective cover of tanks, which disintegrates over time, as does the crushed concrete used to “paint” the foundations.
