Aphrodite and Eros Painting

I am a huge geek when it came to Greek Mythology. When I was in 6th grade I became obsessed with the concept and used to name off almost every god, goddess, and demi-god(dess) and read almost every story. For this piece I wanted to recreate a "Madonna and Child" renaissance painting depicting the natural instincts and connections between a mother and a child. Since Eros is the son of Aphrodite, I wanted to depict a bond between the two characters. The glow around the two figures indicate that they're immortal and powerful since that's how gods and goddesses were viewed. I hope that my viewers will feel the connection that a mother and a baby have and think that it almost feels like they're looking at a Madonna and Child piece.
