This work is a composed of acrylic paint and then embellished with sequins and beads. I then applied a gloss to the overall canvas (gallery-stretched). I chose Aretha Franklin as the subject because she is such an icon and exemplifies a powerful woman who empowers others. I hope others see this piece and feel her presence and power as the Queen of Soul.
