Originally from Belgium, my husband J.-Marc Laloux and Fabienne have been living in our workshop in the Morvan region of Burgundy for four years. By choosing to live in the countryside, we became aware of the urgency of slowing down our mad race which was leading us straight into the wall, of rediscovering safe, healthy values, and the health crisis has given us even more reason to respect nature, which means respecting ourselves. The virus has caught us unawares, just as we are catching the planet unawares by multiplying our over-polluting movements. J.-Marc and I do not unnecessarily feed our carbon footprint, the wood we use comes from our own land and the canvas is partly recycled, everyone can become aware on their own small scale, we must be able to look at the universe in the evening and not be ashamed. What differentiates us as a duo of artists? It is precisely the "we" and not the "I" because the installation is the extension of the painting, it is the fusion of our two works that become the work of art. Extending the timeless painting work done by my husband, my installations are based on current events, my intervention is the moving part of our art in duo. Each installation is a stone that builds individual awareness first, and then the collective view of a world that we leave behind us, that each civilization has left behind, a world in perpetual mutation, to which each time Art has survived as the eternal witness of a punctual era. The aim is not to leave future generations a rigorous and photographic encyclopaedia that is purely scientific and devoid of all feeling. By introducing sensuality and love through a play of materials always unconventionally amalgamated, we expose a visual testimony of what exists today, coupled with a comforting and vital sensation close to what nature offers us. The paintings, their curves, their materials want to embrace the viewer and embrace eternity. The "SQUARES" series is in perpetual mutation because a less worked canvas reflecting the despair of the current situation can metamorphose with the liking of our brushes into a more accomplished work charged with hope. La série "SQUARES" est en perpétuelle mutation car une toile moins travaillée et reflétat le désespoir de la situation actuelle peut se métamorphoser au gré de nos pinceaux en une oeuvre plus aboutie chargée d'espoir.

Fabienne & J.-Marc LALOUX, B 1969 & 1954 Based in Burgundy, France 2017 DUO with my wife, three-dimensional artist and much more... and me, painter larger than life Our latest series "NYSTAGMUS": a face-to-face encounter between the viewer and our work. Is it a work of art? What is a work of art? Can everything be Art? What if it was the gaze that legitimised the status of a work of art? The gaze of the critic, the gallery owner, the curator, the viewer, the collector, ... We cannot bring ourselves to think that everything is only speculation, even if the air of time strongly encourages it, History is an eternal restart and we hope to arouse with "NYSTAGMUS" something other than the mink of mountains of dollars, we like to believe that in these mountains, live a mind not lobotomized and beats a heart sensitive to the aestheticism "NYSTAGMUS" was born from a serious physical and moral suffering that really changed J.-Marc's daily life, the disease making him perpetually see the same image in duplicate, a shifted vision of things that opened the reflection on this artistic series... or not. The choice is yours! At the same time, an art collector presented us with a project called "Religion, this forbidden fruit". He wished to rework the Galbes, creations of nature in pastel, natural pigments and oil, and thus highlight our artistic polymorphism and reveal the different readings of the paintings of J.-Marc LALOUX. Se consacre aujourd'hui essentiellement à l'art pictural There follows a rich path between drawing and image courses at the Beaux-Arts and those in economics, as a teacher (schoolmaster) and then as an art education teacher.
