There are many shades that color the gigantic plume of Eyjafjallajökull (2010).

This eruption spewed thousands of tons of blocks, sulfur, iron, ash into the sky.

The volcanic cloud encompasses dozens of tones, from ocher to brown, from straw yellow to sulfur green, from light gray to intense cobalt. Hundreds and hundreds of brush strokes structure these swirls. The material structure suggests the robustness of the material that was erupted.

The artwork is ready to hang, no frame needed. Comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

These two artworks can be complementary. In fact, it is the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland. The first painting represents the cloud of ashes that rose from the volcano for many months after the strong eruption of 2010. The second painting represents an emission of magma, at night, prior to the 2010 eruption.

I was born in Belgium and I have been living and working in Ortigia, Sicily for six years. I am an established self-taught artist who takes inspiration from great artists such as Claude Monet, Gerhard Richter, Turner, Rothko, ... I fell in love with the clouds when I was still a child and this love is always present. I draw most of my inspiration from nature and my pictures are the result of the match between light, colors and forms and my emotions. I paint on canvas, mainly in oil. I have been captivated by the softness of this medium, the beauty of the volutes created when the pigments mingle. It consists in an overlapping of colors, layer after layer. In this case, my brushstroke is often curvy. Besides, acrylics is characterized by a faster process and requires a more net impact from the beginning, and my works are often more minimal. In both processes, discovering new nuances by mixing the colors is really exciting. The last three years have been fruitful from a professional point of view, with numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as participations in national and international competitions.
