Diana Kirsten Szlaski was born in 1973 in Dortmund. After training as a photo lab assistant in the nineties, she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeological Sciences in 2009/10 and a photography course at the Ruhr University Bochum. Based on this, she earned a Master's degree in Arts in the Department of European Cultural Heritage Protection at the University of Frankfurt / Oder. Since 2016, Szlaski has been training at the Institute of Fine Arts and Art Therapy (IBKK) in the field of painting and graphics. Diana Kirsten Szlaski lives and works today in Moers. Abstract art and painting characterize the work of Diana Szlaski, preferably using acrylic or in combination with mixed media. The combined working methods in addition to free painting include u. a. the photo transfer and the use of structural materials and pigments. Thematically closely connected with the Ruhrgebiet and the industrial culture, Szlaski sets a special view on the Ruhr region of earlier epochs up to the modern age. Her abstract art complements Szlaski with concrete photography in a broad spectrum from industrial Ruhr area culture to national and international landscape photographs.
