This large painting came out of time I have spent in Northumberland, which is one of my favourite parts of the UK. I adore the wild, ancient landscape, the great expanses of coast and the big skies that can be found there. It is a very special place and I felt compelled to try and capture something of its essence in this piece. I created this piece with acrylic on a deep-edge canvas. The sides are painted in a deep green, which is also used in the painting itself. The painting is signed by me. On the back there are d-rings and picture cord, so it is ready to hang; it looks great (and very contemporary!) unframed with painted sides, but if you particularly wanted to have it framed, that would work well too. This is a large piece which has lots of impact for that special wall in your home or workplace.

I'm an artist working primarily in painting and drawing from my studio in rural Wiltshire, UK. I am fascinated by the relationship between language and images, and my current series, Sleep, is inspired by instances of sleep, insomnia, dreaming and nightmare in poems and other works of literature. In 2020, I completed a series of 48 small paintings inspired by T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets poems. Readings of the poems, set against the backdrop of my paintings, can be heard and seen on my YouTube channel. A book about the project will be published in 2021. My work is regularly exhibited in galleries and open exhibitions across the UK, and is included in private collections in the US, Australia, France and Britain.
