August in the Woods Painting

I live near an ancient woodland, which I walk in almost every day, and I love seeing how it changes across the seasons. I know the woodland very well and the light through the trees in the summer, along with the lushness of the greenery, is both subtle and striking. It is this essence that I have tried to capture in this painting of a magical part of the woodland that is slightly overgrown. It is a woodland teeming with life and feels like it has remained steadfast throughout the centuries. This painting is from a small series I made in response to this landscape, called The English Jungle. It was made with acrylic and palette knife on a deep-edge canvas. It is signed by me; the sides of the canvas are painted with a deep green also used in the painting itself; it is ready to hang (see additional photos). This is a medium-sized painting that will fit in any home and can stand alone or work well with other pieces.
