About The Artwork

Inspired by Genesis 2:15 The care of the earth was a mandate given to us by God from the beginning. “The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it” Genesis 2:15 (NLT). We were given the authority to care for the animals and the earth. When Eve was deceived and ate from the fruit, we lost our authority to the enemy. The earth has been reaping the disastrous results since. We have hunted and consumed animals to extinction. We have depleted the earth or its natural nutrients by our overconsumption. We have packed our landfills with plastics and garbage beyond normal consumption. We take take take and give little back. Let’s end the madness now!

For years, I lived with the notion that being an artist was just a fanciful dream, discouraged by letters of rejection the said, “We like your work, it is just not what we’re looking for right now,” led me to trade my paints for a mouse and ventured into the commercial art world. A few years ago, I taught a drawing class and that’s when I realized that the dream was dormant but not dead. I shook off the old dusty brushes and rekindled the flame. Encouraged by my son and close friends, I returned to art school to refine my skills, gain momentum and renew my confidence. I’m delighted to say those dreams are now a reality. My inspiration comes from my faith in God and the Bible. From abstract to realism, I allow the vision to dictate the medium and style, not the other way around. My personal convictions guide my hand. I paint because I find joy in it and others are encouraged by it. Although the inspiration comes from my personal faith the topics are universal: joy, pain, encouragement, fear, hope. Art purchased simply for decor, will ultimately become invisible. Art that truly inspires or moistens the eyes is reserved for the museum. My desire? is that my work is not just about a pretty picture for a wall, but more about provoking an experience the viewer has in their heart, which causes them to bring an image home that will never “disappear” into the wallpaper.
