ABOUT THE ARTWORK
An early morning walk through the forest near our home. The sun is starting to rise above a meadow to the right. This casts a warm orange glow on the trees. But the river Vltava flows through a valley to the left and the cool light from the mist casts a cool blue shade on the left side of the trees. Perhaps it is this unusual lighting that created a magical atmosphere that morning which I had to capture on canvas!

I was born in Sligo, Ireland in 1967. I now live with my family in South Bohemia, Czech but I also return regularly to Sligo to be with my father and to enjoy the Atlantic coastline. I paint in both locations. I have worked in over 30 countries overseas mostly in challenging emergency and humanitarian environments. I have had discs removed in my neck and lower back and due to nerve issues I must now paint with my right wrist and arm in a fixed brace. But painting is my physical and mental therapy and it gives me much joy to share my art with you.
