This work belongs to the series 'Campo Cromático' which, following the earlier works presented in the 'Essential' series, further explores how use of color can challenge a given space. These works explore the extreme reduction of elements to their essence, the color, which the artist reinterprets and gives a new meaning by superimposing it, creating new spaces, forms and shapes, depicting ultra-conceptual still lifes and new imagined possibilities.

Born in 1958 in Valencia, Vicente Fernández Cervera’s pictorial process aims to blend the complexities of geometric abstraction with simple visual elements, essentially reducing painting to its fundamental structural components. Consequently, most of the artworks function more like mural objects than traditional paintings, often taking on a tangible volume or three-dimensional relief rather than remaining flat on a canvas. The compositions, through their immediate beauty, cleanliness, and brightness, create an impressive aesthetic effect while prioritizing their intrinsic plastic qualities: they exhibit a radiant, pure formality; a bold and unique use of colors that makes it seem like the forms are made of colored light; a sophisticated sense of composition that draws from geometry and balance; and a spatial arrangement that saturates every aspect of the artwork, creating a unified whole that echoes Albert Einstein's idea that space and objects are inseparable. Inspired by artists like Barnett Newman, Anne Truitt or Gerhard Richter, he continues to play with color, shape and form, subverting what’s established to explore new -and endless- spatial possibilities. He currently lives and works in Valencia.
