ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Black drips are layered over the canvas and beyond the lower edge to cascade shadows down the wall. This monochrome work is a textural gem that oozes glossy sophistication. A perfect addition to any contemporary style interior. This work is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. The sides are painted, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back, you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists). The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity. THE FRINGE COLLECTION “A rebellious bid for freedom” I am interested in the relationship between the paint and the canvas. Allowing paint to escape enables a different, more dynamic way to view painting and what we can expect of it.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
