Barbie Angelina Painting

I am fascinated by how people are portrayed in the past, as well as in the present. In my portraits i attemp to capture what is real, essential, and eternal about a person. The eyes of the subject are the focal point of my work and allow the beholder to see the subject’s soul. The painting comes to life because i keeps adding transparent layers of high quality paint on top of each other until the person’s essence appears on the canvas. In this painting i transformed Angelina Jolie into a barbie and examined the borders between real and unreal. The painting is life size which also effects the way you experience the work. I recommend to hang the painting without a frame.
