About The Artwork
Inspired by Monet's ability to draw in on nature, the bed of roses is an abstract oil painting meant to enrapture the eyes of a person into the ephemeral beauty of roses. In this work, Adam Yap attempts to use a familiar sense of beauty to evoke the purpose in living no matter how small our existence is compared to the universe. The all-around fluid brush strokes is a representation of our ever changing character and spontaneity and the close exuberant colors is our interconnected multitude of identities bursting into life. The painting attempts to bring a visual representation of the heart with all its turmoil and meaning and reduce it all down to the small yet signifant role of the rose to life.
