About The Artwork

This painting is one of two expressing the connection between humanity and earth, creation and science; the quantum unseen brought into this realm. This painting expresses the very real, invisible world between the fire above and the waters below. The rock formations look like a personally curated gallery of artwork made by Divine beings. The beauty and connection with nature and creation. I hope the viewer will experience the mystery and warmth of non-destructive fires of love framed by sharp fractal, crystal shapes contrasted against the blue pixel-covered mountain with the rounded anthropomorphic fingers reaching higher. Let the scene invite you in. This reminds us that there’s something greater than the mountains, the greenery shaped like trees of blue water pixels. I selected this subject based on a visit to the Garden of the Gods and the sense of being transported to another place in the midst of nature. I started by building the texture space; followed by deconstructing, breaking up and working on linework, flow, and overlay. The painting is applied on traditional canvas and stretchers. Frame and hanging hardware are not included.

Paper bag sketches – this is where it all began for Jason. His first drawings found themselves on cut up brown paper bags, carefully cut into squares by his mother. Jason would soon become a known child prodigy in Kentucky and attend the state’s prestigious Governor’s School for the Arts as a teen. Now at 47, the emerging artist approaches a blank canvas with meditative mindfulness to create a spiritual flow in his pieces. It is what Jason calls a ‘divine dance.’ Using acrylic paint as his base, he mixes dance, drawing, painting, airbrush, typography and graphic design principles to express an interplay of multiple layers and textures.
