ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Initially I poured metallic gold mixed with one of 3 mediums - clear pouring acrylic, varnish, or Max Seal - onto a black MDF board and let it spread until I saw the shapes of the birds forming. All other colors were mixed separately with one of the mediums and poured, some blending with the other. The mediums were not always compatible and sometimes resulted in a sprayed effect. Once the birds were formed, I finessed the design with metallic and acrylic paints. I then painted out the negative space in a graduated teal, and covered it with resin. It has a black, handmade frame.
