Black Fireworks/3 Painting

After a 3-year university experience in London, I returned to a small town in northern Italy, where the economic failure of individuals and industries has left an indelible mark on the territory. The countryside is dotted with abandoned buildings and concrete monoliths of enormous proportions. The sources in the open countryside where I used to bathe as a child, accompanied by my grandfather, are polluted and drinking their water is not recommended. The air is bad because of the industries, among the worst in the region. My artistic research is based on the suggestions of this place. Have you ever wondered if someone was inside a ruined cottage? Or if there is a trace of life beyond its remains? You would be surprised to find out how many times the correct answer is "more than an artist". Over time, empty and forgotten spaces have become the highest form of expressive research for me. I often visit these places with local artists, various color cans and a few beers. We work on the same walls and the objects that the previous occupants have left. You cannot imagine the quantity of objects we have painted and set up, from dilapidated motorcycles to impeccably worn furniture; we recreate the space after our likeness, using what is discarded by others, because we consider painting freely an act of spiritual survival. There is something majestic and wild in the abandonment and solitude of these buildings, capable of giving an authentic contact with themselves and time. It is here where I draw inspiration for my studio artworks, because when I work, I do it on something alive and exciting, which moves while manipulated and where all gestures count. The process of creating my artworks requires the flooding of the support with materials used in construction, where I subsequently apply color spots that expand into fluid and biomorphic forms, unattainable by traditional techniques such as the brush. I love painting these artworks because they manage to amaze me every time. I experience the emotion of entering a new and unexplored place and, in a sense, I use the same materials that surround me when I work externally. The taste for what is useful, one might say, is exercised on these artworks as limpidly as i do on walls. Unlike street art, I can't have second thoughts. The artworks are completed within a few hours, after which they dry slowly, leaving the viewer a dried trace of their course. For me, these paintings are the manifesto of forces that beset our daily lives, sculpting the ground and the walls to the point of leaving a fragment of them.
