About The Artwork
The style of this piece is inspired by the work of Georgia O'keeffe. Rightfully named "Black Magic Orchid", in it lives all of the negative energy I carried with me until making it. Partially painted with my bare palms, I spiritually transferred all of my past and bad experiences, all of my hauntings and curses onto its petals. It is done abstractly but following the form of the black orchid. Brush strokes, hand gestures, and splattered paint make up the final piece. With it, you could be opening up a portal to remove the bad in your world, or unleashing it. After painting it, weird things occurred, and I rolled it up until 2022, only for the photos did I unroll it. Not one I would want to frame and hang, for it possesses something paranormal. Perhaps there is a place out there just perfect for it. Perhaps it has curing powers, I cannot tell.

In high school, I focused more on photography, but soon got back into painting and drawing. I studied graphic design for a little over a year at IFAC (International Fine Arts Institute) in Miami, before switching to a full time study of architecture. I fell in love with the challenges and complexity of architecture, and took my career on that path. Today, I own my own architecture firm, Herrera Studio. My entire life, I have continued to enjoy painting and hand drawing.
