About The Artwork
In my work I look for symbols that resonate with me and tend to use them again. Overall, I'm looking for a pattern to these symbols. I'm also interested in "learning to paint" by painting myself into a box as it were and then trying to bring the work back. It becomes a process and with every painting I move forward in that process. A work reaches a point were it has a balance between being good and bad, having clarity and confusion. Block Eye is continuation of a series of small works on paper (Block Eye is on wood panel) but a departure too - worked more with new images and compositions. The work is a solid little object ready to hang. Wood panel with acrylic, house paint, paper, and bees wax.
