About The Artwork
This minimal piece was inspired by recent violence and the murder of George Floyd. As an American white male, I'll never know what it is like to be a black man growing up in fear of always having to look over your shoulder, always being looked at like a deviant, treated with disrespect. My voice in this situation is to create art. The oak wood inlay was dyed red and set on the concrete canvas. Coffee stains mimic the blood stained streets of any City USA. Proceeds of sales will go to local African-American charities in need.
