About The Artwork
I looked at the great American painter John James Audubon (1785-1851). His paintings of birds from a book of life-size prints entitled Birds of America inspired me to work from them. I believe he worked from the bodies of deceased birds for accuracy. I love the timelessness and beauty of his paintings. I chose watercolour for this painting to chime with his original work from approximately 200 years ago.
