Another one of those quiet times overlooking the bay. BART has stopped running for the day , the train tracks are silent, and the ever present white noise of the highway pauses to catch it's breath. Sitting in the center of this triangle of energy all day long numbs your senses and to feel it shut off in that brief period early in the morning is like coming back to life. You can see past the haze of dust, feel the wind coming off the bay and hear the nights sounds around you. And on this night I was greeted with this amazing Golden moon that was setting across the bay during the tail end of the blue hour. The clouds shifting and surrounding the moon both amplified it's light and shrouded it in turns until the moon fell below the horizon just as astronomical Dawn ended as well. And as the sky lightened the white noise of the highway turned back on, a train rumbled in from the north and the screech of BART cut through it all....and the moment was over. Thank you for looking

Matthew McDermott, b. 1981 NY, is an artist living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mat struggles with mental illness and epilepsy on a day to day basis but has found his purpose in the creative arts in the form of painting, stained glass and custom woodworking. Prior to 2018 his work was available only through a commission basis and resides in private collections throughout the United States. In 2015 he was fortunate enough to gain a patron that funded the body of his work now available in his portfolio. "My artwork has become my only way to find myself again. Life is good when I'm painting and creating and I'm happy because I'm doing what I love. When things are bad I focus on the fact that my art is there waiting for me to get better and that it is something to hang on to when everything seems so horrible and normal life feels like a dream or a story that can't possibly be real."
