About The Artwork

Like most I find a peaceful walk in the woods a tranquil experience, with dappled light and the sweet chorus of birds all around, it often bring a sense of renewed energy. Spring is a beautiful time not only for its new lease of life and energy, but to see the forest floors carpeted with the most delicate and striking of flowers, the Bluebell. I am lucky enough to be within walking distance of such a spectacular sight and in my garden alone a babbling brook runs down the side, its banks filled with spring delights of Bluebells and Primroses . It was from this I was inspired, when I saw sight of the first butterflies of the year the 'Orange Tip', flutter on and around the bluebells as the sun cast its dappled light through the leaves above. A number of techniques were used to create the piece including fabric painting, embroidery, quilting and three dimensional textiles techniques. This piece has been professionally framed, with a white mount and white wood grain box frame, with clear glass. It is ready to hang. It measures: Height: 20cm, Width: 25.5cm, Depth: 2.5cm, in its frame it measures: Height: 28.5cm, Width: 33.5cm, Depth: 3cm.

As a keen artist you will often find me wondering the British countryside, overseeing with a keen eye mother nature at her finest, snapping and sketching the characteristics of all kinds of creatures. From the smallest insect hiding in the warmth of the long grass to the vast landscapes that cover the horizon. I ask why look anywhere else when such beauty is to been seen? I use a wide range of techniques to create three dimensional textiles that capture aspects of nature that I have found beautiful. This beauty I find serves as a reminder of the importance of the natural world, and how we should endeavour to preserve it, this idea has particular importance in society today.
