"Boxes 1" ia a painting part of the "Air on wood" series that I'm working on last few years. The idea is that I'm cutting of the air from the landscape and use the plain wood as a background or actually i'm changing plases of the structers. Air is the wood and wood is the light in the paintings.

Kaliya Kalacheva is an MA graduate from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2011 she won the Prize for Promising Young Artist from the Edmond Demirdjian Foundation. She was nominated for the 2012 MOST Award. In 2017 Kaliya won the International Artist Recognition at the Women in the Arts Awards as part of the Celebrating the Genius of Women Exhibition in Orlando, Florida, USA. In 2021 Kaliya wins the Award of the participants for painting in the National Exhibition - a competition for painting and sculpture. 2020 brings her the Prize for an emerging artist at the Burgas Biennale for Contemporary art, Burgas, Bulgaria. Her paintings are part of the collections of the Hugo Voeten Art Centre, Belgium; the Luciano Benetton Collection, Italy; the National Art Gallery and the Sofia City Art Gallery, Bulgaria. Kaliya Kalacheva was a resident artist in the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France in 2014 and in the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus, Schwandorf, Germany in 2016.
