Brahma Welcome! Enjoy the authentic and original art by Dutch artist Sylvia Thijssen. Title of the painting: ‘Brahma’ Size: 150 x 100 cm (± 59,1 x 39,4 inches) Medium: this artwork is created with oil paint (upper layers) and acrylic paint (under layers). Painting will be shipped in a tube. Rolled works can be easily stretched (placed onto wooden stretcher bars) and/or framed by a local framer upon arrival. Dated: 2020, signed and dated on the front. Made in my studio in Breda, The Netherlands. Document of Authenticity included. ‘Brahma’ is part of the Chateau d’Arte series, a series of monumental paintings in which personal stories intertwine with old myths. Created in the tranquility of the corona pandemic, these are my painterly Grand Cru's that show a world full of visual adventure. In this painting I reflect on the fact that as an artist you are the creator of new worlds. Brahma is the creative aspect of the Hindu Trinity, of which Shiva is the transforming part and Vishnu the sustaining part. Brahma is the cosmic energy that expelled the germ of the universe into space, allowing the male seed to penetrate into the female egg. Shiva shapes the cosmos and is worshiped symbolically in the form of a lingam and a yoni. Vishnu is the destroyer of the worlds ("I have become dead, destroyer of worlds") and thus provides for progress and thus time. Text in the painting: The crocodile did bite an empty space and new goalers are born blue. Through that: brahmabrahmabrahma…. (primeval father Abraham appears). Accented in black: ace (the ace in the card game). In a short docu I show you my latest series of paintings in my studio. In Dutch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPrjF3D0Irs&t=61s Living in a not-too-big city in the south of the Netherlands, the Dutch visual artist Sylvia Thijssen walks every day to her studio. It is a four kilometers walk wherein she crosses two small rivers. It is an excellent distance to free her mind of domestic affairs for to let the muse in. It is in this sunny, personal space that she paints her colorful canvasses, in active gestures big and small, like dancing, always trying to hear the colors sing together, searching for an energy wherein is also the peace of a moment in eternity, taking time as if the paint forms a structure that grew and matured. Thijssen is not thinking of her work as making paintings, no, these are adventures. Exciting adventures for her as a painter to make new experiences for the one who is looking at them.
