About The Artwork
Events that occurred at the border with Ukrainian grain deeply touched me. For me, this is significant and symbolic. I remember how my grandmother, before she passed away, used to hide bread under her pillow. She survived the Holodomor in Ukraine. Almost no one from her family survived. Some were taken to camps, some did not survive that time. So, it hurts me deeply when grain is discarded as useless, as garbage. Because people in Ukraine died for BREAD.
