I started painting this after a visit to St Ives in January 2020. It is an abstract view of the harbour in St Ives from high on the hill. I've included elements that I saw, but it is not an accurate representation. Interestingly, people who have seen this all recognise it as the harbour at St Ives...

My work is inspired by a lifelong connection with the natural world. As both a painter and former editorial garden photographer, I have spent decades observing the changing rhythms of landscapes, gardens and wild places. Whether working with paint or photography, I am drawn to those fleeting moments when light, colour and atmosphere combine to create a powerful sense of place.
My paintings are expressive interpretations rather than literal representations. Working intuitively with acrylics and mixed media, I build layers of colour, texture and gestural marks, allowing each painting to evolve through observation, memory and instinct. Rather than recording every detail, I seek to capture the energy of a landscape, the movement of flowers in the wind, or the shifting light across a field or coastline. Each painting becomes a response to the experience of being immersed in nature.
Photography remains an important part of my creative practice. Years spent photographing gardens have shaped the way I see composition, light and the subtle relationships between colour and form. My photographs celebrate the quiet beauty and intricate detail found in flowers and the natural landscape, preserving moments that are often overlooked or quickly lost.
Underlying both disciplines is a belief that nature offers endless inspiration, wonder and renewal. I hope my work encourages viewers to pause, look more closely and reconnect with the richness, beauty and vitality of the natural world.
