ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Breathtaking blues, Ocean" is a blend of mixed media techniques, strength of the acrylics and loads of patience. The textures of the rocks were done using mixed media paste and tamed with palette knives and carving tools before setting out to dry. Then a dense layer of heavy body acrylics were applied using paint brushes, chop sticks and bare hands too. And those ocean colours - the seafoam blues and turquoises were custom mixed from concentrated acrylics. They were water downed and applied in various densities, in water colour techniques to create those depths, natural ripples of the ocean. Each layer took about a day/night, several spins and attention to dry. And I went about 18-22 layers on this one. Or maybe more, I don't exactly remember. For I was lost, in those breath-taking blues. Acrylics on Canvas panel, using high-quality artist/professional grade materials Comes unframed Resin Signed/sealed on front Certificate of Authenticity A handwritten note about painting

Born in small town, Andhra Pradesh in 1982, Anusha Adabala is a self-taught artist with post-graduate degree in Information Technology. She worked for technology companies such as Adobe, Nokia, AOL before completely embracing her artistic journey. Her exposure to numerous cultures, countries she has visited and lived in is a stimulus for her work. As a woman raised in conservative family, Anusha found a powerful voice through art. A little rebellious, she unwaveringly stuck to her favourite subject matter - the charcoal figuratives especially of woman which are often bold, capturing the complexities and intricacies of untold human emotions. The sensuously seen drawings enwrap hidden stories of love, yearning, hesitation, desires, despair, and sometimes even questions. She lets the forms materialise organically from her deepest memories, subdued thoughts, and restrained societal observations. She is also deeply fascinated by oceans and explores nature through her mixed media works. To her, oceans seem powerful, magnetic, and mysterious. And her most authentic work of aerial-inspired oceanscapes, where land meets the shorelines are a celebration of her expertise in colours, layers, and textures. She relates the magnificence and mysteries of oceans to human minds. “The colours speak, as I paint. Every piece becomes a micro-story, evoking different emotions and feelings. It is them, that I capture and create that resonates with my viewer.” Anusha also attended workshops by eminent artists like Bijay Biswaal, Prakashan Puthur, Prem Awale, and Jacob Dhein.
