About The Artwork
This image is one of the four hundred year old Sycamore trees I discovered in Viareggio, Italy that inspired me to begin painting trees whose limbs and gestures resemble humans. I hope the viewers will find this image both whimsical and engaging. I am drawn to the many shapes that are embedded in the sycamore bark. Acrylic is the paint I use because it suits my needs as an artist. I started engaging the anthropomorphic tree motif as the representational mode allows the evocative poetic quality of the subject to be expressed. I do not work abstractly or realistically.
