Broken barns in Alberta, 2022 Painting

Broken Barns, acrylic on canvas 2022 Inspired by the various abandoned barns along the TransCanada. Whenever I take a road trip, I come across at least one of such barns. They have either been neglected by the farmers and are decomposing on their land or just randomly situated in abandoned areas. Waiting for a new life, they cater to wildlife sometimes but mostly grass. I was tempted to stay at one and just see what happens overnight but then decided to keep going. I always found these fascinating so I painted this one which almost seemed like a barn village. The colours of the painting are in muted tones like the colours of the atmosphere around them. The grass is tall, almost blocking the entrances and the sides all falling or broken into. Hope it ignites some road trips you may taken and seen these on the side of the highways.
