About The Artwork

Texture by Alexis Gonnet Model: Ruby Olive Contre-collage aluminium "dibond"/ Counter collage Aluminium Dibond (Highest quality matt paper mounted on aluminium based surface) Limited Edition 000 - 005, Labo Retine Argentique, France. Photograph taken at Millfield School, Somerset, UK. 1st Edition, Serial N° : 000 Signature and Certificate of Authenticity. - "As I usually say, a hyperrealist painter tries his best to achieve a result which looks like a real photographic picture. A pictorialist photographer's wished objective is visually equivalent to a painting". In other words, I intended to seamlessly blend photographic elements with painting techniques, raising intriguing questions about each medium and the way they overlap. Also involving intertextual references from my taste in cinema and Art in general. This Photograph is part of my "Challenging Traditional Representation of Photography" series. Covering the main subject of the photograph and making an abstract and conceptual representation of portraiture.

Born in Grenoble in 1996, Alexis Gonnet is a young photographer who probably gets his artistic precocity due to a childhood of globe-trotter and adolescence in an english school. He is initiated at Millfield School to the plastics arts and media techniques. Also contestant in several photography contests on the internet, he decides to start digital imagery and the creation of conceptual photography. In his photos he evokes disturbingly poetical mythological stories and childhood fairytales. Recently, Alexis has taken part in a fantastic adventure with a french painter called Franck Bouroullec, from the Ecole des Gobelins, who is internationally renowned for his live painting performances. The two of them joined their artistic minds to create an astonishing photography exhibition held in the Ferrari Art Gallery in Vevey, Switzerland. Moreover, this exhibition opened Alexis the doors to be part of the very famous Festival de L'Image de Vevey for an entire month where thousands of photography addicts got to see his work for the first time.
