This painting is inspired by a conceptual photo of famous photographer Brooke DiDonato. The people in her pictures seem to be stuck - they can’t move, they can’t change anything, they don’t seem happy. They seem to show the frustration of people who can’t change. But somehow she is managing to present this concept in a uniquely humorous or romantic way. The picture that inspired this painting, however, is different. You see a man’s upper body fading into the grass. It does not feel like this man is stuck in the grass or is trying to hide in there, on the contrary: he seems to enjoy himself very much, buried in green beauty, part of mother nature.

My art wants to put a smile on your face. All of my paintings tell a story, and every story has a little twist. You'll have to look closely: details matter to me. I was born and grew up in Taiwan, and moved to the Netherlands in 2014, where I am again living now after a 2-year stint in San Diego. You can check out my Instagram for a mix of work in progress and snapshots of my life with husband and cat.
