Butterfly 2010 36"x48" hinged diptych, acrylic on two canvases is part of my rotation series where I put paint on the canvas then spin it on a rotating platform that I made. This series of works were completed in 2014 and the rotation arm dismantled.

Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things.

Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art. My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames and using centrifugal force and gravity to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This artwork commands attention with its explosive composition and vibrant color palette. Dominated by an energetic burst of yellow, red, and black hues, the piece radiates from a central point, creating the illusion of a powerful, dynamic explosion. The bold splashes of color are meticulously controlled, yet exude an organic spontaneity that captivates the viewer's gaze. The white central area serves as a focal point, breaking through and seemingly pushing the other colors outward. This interplay between light and dark, clarity and chaos, draws the eye into the heart of the artwork, inviting contemplation on the interplay between order and disorder. The angular lines and sharp trajectories of the paint splatters add a sense of motion and urgency, enhancing the overall dynamism of the piece. The artist's technique showcases a masterful balance between control and freedom, leveraging both deliberate brushwork and the unpredictable nature of the medium to create a compelling visual narrative. This work stands out for its raw energy and the sheer intensity of its execution, making it a striking example of abstract expressionism that challenges and enthralls the viewer.
