About The Artwork

Mixed media on paper. It's an abstraction, but the leading idea is the monogram for the name of Jesus Christ, traditionally used as a religious symbol within the Christian Church. The name Jesus, spelt in Greek capitals, has the abbreviations IHS or JHS. This combinations of letters can be found several times in this drawing. Sometimes this letters are interpreted also as an abbreviation for Jesus our Saviour in latin (Jesus Hominum Salvator). This artwork is a part of the series of abstractions on that topic. The other ones of the series are JHS (which actually is a CHRISTOGRAM I) and CHRISTOGRAM II , they are in my Saatchi portfolio. CHRISTOGRAMS II and III look great when hanging together on the wall. Visualisation is in additional photos.

Hanna Borowska is a mixed media artist based in Poland whose painitngs are in private collections in 3 countries - Belarus, Ukraine and Poland. She participated in group exhibitions nationally (years 2013-2018). Borowska believes that a piece of art is something that should be made by hand, not with electronic devices. She is convinced that living in the era of technology and virtual life is the reason why people often feel lost and lack of real warmth, kindness, affection. Hanna claims that traditional art is the best way to affect our mental condition, to help us feel like humans again. Her artworks are about our emotional life and inner world of views, fears, hopes and believes. Her painitngs are full of symbols, metaphors, spiritual references and hidden meanings. Borowska paints the world around us as a reflection of our psychological condition.
