Alhama de Granada was for much of the Moorish Empire a very important city, situated between Malaga and Granada it was rich and prosperous. It was also the first city to be taken back by the Spanish armies during the reconquest and eventually the fall of Granada. In Alhama town hall there is a 3d scale model of how the city once looked in the 15th century and this was my inspiration for this painting. The streets still remain but the Mosque and walls have long since gone, this is my impression of have they may have looked in a time gone by. Painted in watercolour and Ink.
