The work is inspired on automaton cams that are the integral activators of the levers on mechanical dolls. The object of the work is to inspire viewers in looking at life in a different way, consequently the work can be appreciated from any of the four sides of the work. The medium used, Indian ink and acrylic on unique gold paper is one developed exclusively by me in 2007. There is a total of 53 works to this series and on my YouTube http://www.youtube.com/I4CUCXY page you can see the works in their individual clips as they rotate.

Bernard Rangel is a self taught artist painting for more than 40 years. His surreal work is a new avenue departing from the established ones of artists such as Miro, Matisse and Max Ernst: it is both creative and visceral. Named "Contemporary Tribal Surrealism" it reflects the Global Village of the 21st century. The lines of his work both in design and colour are creative, coherent, consistent, original and unique, but it all springs forth from a source that is intriguing, like his cultural background. The lines of tribal simplicity fused in solid and amusing lines. In particular when the viewer just looks at the different colour fields the work takes on other dimensions. Bernard has lived in 8 different countries: in both hemispheres and on either side of the globe. Now based in London he explores new ways of presenting his images to a wider audience. His present work can be seen on smartphone protectors, animated videos on YouTube, and in his new studio in Bermondsey at the Biscuit Factory, Block F, Studio 20, SE16 4DG.
