This painting was awarded in the “Luxembourg Art Prize 2023”, “Artbox.Project Basel 2.0” and “Artbox.Project New York 2.0” competitions. It represents the pink salt ponds of the Camargue seen from the sky. They are located in the south of France on the Mediterranean Sea. All these variations of the pink color are due to a natural phenomenon which occurs when with the intense heat of summer, a microalgae called “dunaliella salina” proliferates. To resist the high concentration of salt, it produces beta-carotene (present in carrots in particular), which will then be eaten by tiny shrimps called “artemia salina”, which will in turn be eaten by pink flamingos, it is the ingestion of these which gives them this magnificent pink plumage. This show starts in mid-May and can sometimes last until September if the weather conditions are favorable; its peak is in July. This landscape is directly inspired by the trip to Marseille of the artist Karine d'Arlhac, because passionate about aerial views, she always looks out of the porthole at the regions flown over, and she was amazed to see these immense expanses competing in bright colors, All more beautiful than the other. Here, it is a detailed view with a white mass of salt giving off silvery reflections under the action of the sun's rays.

France
From her early childhood, Karine d'Arlhac was made aware of all forms of fine art thanks to her family, which had a strong artistic fiber : drawing, painting, sculpture and music were regularly practiced there. His hypersensitivity, sometimes exacerbated, often inflamed, made him choose painting. Having lived in Africa and Europe for part of his childhood and adolescence, his travels forever changed his personality. They amplified her perceptions by absorbing the cultures and the incredible diversity of arts she was confronted with, as much in shapes, as in colors, and sometimes unusual media. From her wanderings, she brought back the strength of movement, the power of colours and the intensity of light. In 1984, her paternal grandmother, Gisèle, took her to see Pablo Picasso's exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. It was a real eye - opener! Karine d'Arlhac fell madly in love with Contemporary Art, which corresponds to her search for the unusual, the unexpected, the extraordinary, springing up where we least expect it. His signature "K" in the shape of a star is his course, his compass (symbol that luck and the muses of creativity accompany and inspire him in his work) is also linked to Gisèle who, passionate about ancient Egypt, explained to him that the "Ka" symbolized the soul, the vital energy, the life force, the spiritual double of a person. Just like the works of an artist who are an extension of himself...! With her particular look at our environment, she aspires to share the magic of the beauty of the world, immortalizing the essence of the diversity of our planet Earth. Today, his ambition is to make a full living from his art. So, it was only natural for her to take the plunge and successfully apply to national and international art competitions.
