Caryatid is using the technical word, meaning a pillar in the shape of a female figure, largely used in archaic Greece and the ancient Near East. Caryatid attempts to be a reminder of that ancient Greek Civilization, by calling those inanimate female figures, serving as an architectural support, into being, thus holding up as a model in our present Europe and World, too, that sophisticated attitude toward Art, that affection and understanding of Beauty. To working out that feeling, these figures are not stiffen into ancient time but in fact are dancing and gold smoke was also being applied, in part to give that velvety touch to it and also to using it as an oblique hint to that of the myth of the Golden Fleece. The yellow ship on the painting serves as a reference to the craft Argo, which means Swift and of the Argonauts, who set out on a mission unachievable. Actually partly on account on their art-loving characteristic Yavan is being used (after the abbreviation of real name) as an artist name, for it means the Greek.

Inspired by forms and colours, dabbled in many forms of expressing art stems from this interest, from cutting mosaics using half precious stones fitted into walls, melting colourful candles into shapes with intricate decoration running through on their sides, painting glassware as well as windows and large walls, I originally started painting images on material such as paper/rice paper/wooden board and usually with acrylic paints, then gradually moved on to working on canvas, like rough linen, and to using oil paints. My technique is based on drawing skill and practice, also inventing and intuition, using brush, as well as knife alone, too. The themes of the images are fictional, sometimes mythological with imaginary creatures moving along the scenery, but many stories root in History, and in the Bible too. Collectors of the works are mainly from Ireland, Hungary, but also from the USA, Greece, Austria, South Africa and China. Now I am living in Dublin/Budapest, while having exhibitions throughout the world since 2002, the latest for the invitation of 798 Art Promotion Centre in Beijing, China.
