About The Artwork
I was inspired by the work of Native American & indigenous Australian artists , as well as ceramic art . The picture was originally designed to be projected onto a large backdrop, so I felt it needed detail in the colours and shapes - to evoke fire , earth and music in combination . The picture was made by first laying tape onto the canvas in a grid , cutting out squares, and then painting into the canvas spaces . After that, the tape was removed , with the process repeated on the remaining blank squares . Finally I added more patterns .
