About The Artwork
I'm inspired by many sources, not least my own experiences. These works are about being with someone that forms a major part of your life and celebrating that fact, that state and that emotional connection. For me at least, the soft gentle hues along with more intense use of colour reflect those emotional states; the colours are gentle and unambiguous as are some of the titles. As a painter, I also like to see and like to show how the artwork is constructed. In my own work I like to see evidence of brushwork. I’m happy with vague references to things rather than a literal show of technical skill. It is the sentiment that reigns and whether this is easily accessible or not is out my control.

Born and raised in Australia and now living in the UK I completed a BA in Fine Art (Printmaking) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the mid-80s. Failed to take myself seriously and so worked as a Graphic Designer and later as an Interactive Media Developer; such an incredible waste of time.I did however, over the years work my way through several sketchbooks of ideas and drawings. I am inspired by many sources and might say everything at one point or another has had impact on me. Over the last 10 years I have returned to making Art almost as if I had just finished my BA in Fine Art (inside my head at least) in a personal and lyrical way. I do not create with selling in mind but rather for my own reflections and/or comments. Selling is great but not at the cost of my own ideas and methodologies; for better or for worse. * I identify as Australian.
