Many Christian temples arose in the same places that were revered as sacred in paganism. One of such buildings can be called the cave monastery Chilter-Marmara, which arose simultaneously with Shuldan (VIII century.), But larger in size. Chelter in translation - "lattice", Marmara - the name of a medieval village at the foot of the mountain. It has more than 50 caves, located in four tiers: cells, dining room, utility and utility rooms, 4 churches. In ancient times, they were connected by wooden stairs, balconies, galleries, resembling openwork bars.
