About The Artwork

This somewhat uncharacteristic piece was done as a color study for an interior mural that I'm about to undertake on a large, long wall in a new apartment complex in Seattle, WA (Assembly 118). The study allows me to develop my color palette before proceeding with the mural but in the process I strive to create a stand alone painting that captures the vibe of the mural in a smaller, condensed format. While the subject matter is less personal than my usual work of late, when designing the composition I was looking to exude a feeling of positivity and uplift with this simple scene. There is some subtle texture and mottling in the background colors and glazing, while the foreground colors are handled very flatly. The depth of the canvas stretchers are 1.5 inches, not 1", but the software wouldn't let me enter a half inch. The edge is painted a mid-tone neutral gray. The piece can be 'self-framing', that is, just hung as is, OR, it could have a simple shadow frame added by the buyer, if desired. Ready to hang by braided metal wire on the back. Felt wall bumpers in the corners to keep the wall from scuffing.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I value the gestural mark, the traces of the human hand in artwork, imperfection and pieces that seek to involve the viewer, requiring them to complete the piece before them. My themes vary widely, wherever my soul, or my nose, takes me. My work is always starts with sketches and studies. I enjoy working with a subject and exploring it repeatedly in multiple pieces that vary in scale and media as a way of challenging my own perception and preconceived notions. I hope the viewer of these also has an experience of renewal and fresh ways of looking.
